Greeting

Welcome Message

We are pleased to announce that the international symposium "Proteostasis in Biology and Medicine" will be held in Kyoto in August 2025, as part of the AMED-CREST/PRIME R&D area titled “Understanding proteostasis and discovering innovative medical applications”.

This R&D area focuses on elucidating the molecular mechanisms that maintain protein homeostasis (proteostasis) throughout the entire life of a protein—from translation and folding to post-translational modification and degradation. Disruptions in these processes are implicated in a wide range of diseases, including neurodegenerative disorders, cancer, immune and metabolic diseases, rare disorders, and aging. Bridging fundamental science and medical applications is the central goal of this initiative.

The symposium will bring together leading researchers from around the world to share the latest discoveries and challenges in proteostasis-related biology and foster interdisciplinary discussions. We hope that this gathering will serve as a platform for international collaboration and the emergence of new research directions.

We look forward to welcoming you to Kyoto—an inspiring city of history and culture—for an engaging and fruitful exchange of ideas at the intersection of life sciences and medicine.
